Did you know that PERMANENT hair colors can damage your hair? Ito yung mga nabibiling super mura lang sa mga tindahan. It contains metallic salts that will make your hair feel rough. Also, most permanent hair colors contain ammonia. It will damage your hair's protein and will change it's pH balance. (Naks! I sound like a pro!) Basta the point is, do not use permanent hair dyes, okay? :)
HOWEVER, there are good hair dyes that will not damage your hair. It'll just make it sensitive but not damaged. These are those that fade or wash away over time. These are what we call the SEMI-PERMANENT hair colors. So kung nawa-wash off ang hair color mo, you need not to worry, be happy kasi tamang hair dye ang nandyan.
Because of my new discovery, I'm excited to share with you four (4) simple ways on how you can take care of your semi-permanent colored hair!
1. Avoid swimming regularly. Chlorine in swimming pools and sea salt, from my experience, wash out the color on your hair.
Rinsing your hair first before you swim might help in taking care of your colored hair. I've learned that our hair is similar to a sponge. It absorbs to a certain level lang. So if you saturate your hair with water, there's a little room na lang for chlorine/sea salt. There's no guarantee though that your color won't fade.

Look at my hair in the picture above. It used to be ash blonde but, because of our trip, my hair went back to the basic bleached color. But hey, it doesn't really matter compared to the memories we built as friends! I am blessed with great and true friends! Unforgettable vacation indeed! Hindi ko pagpapalit ito kahit sa anong kulay ng buhok! Haha!
2. Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.
Sulfate makes our usual shampoos foam/bubble. Well, kapag nagba-bubbles feeling natin mas clean, di ba? But sulfate-free shampoos can clean just the same plus it'll make the color of your hair stay longer! Cool, huh?
The bad thing about sulfate is that it damages the hair follicles and irritates the scalp. So I say no to sulfate shampoos!
Oh by the way, almost all our shampoos here in the Philippines contain sulfate. Hehe! You may find sulfate-free shampoos in salons, though. Bought one myself there. Ask your hair stylist about it.
3. Try using dry shampoo every other day. Washing your hair everyday means saying goodbye to your dyed hair faster. Using it will feel weird at first, but you'll get used to it. Don't worry, it won't make your hair smell bad. ;) You can buy one from Etude!
4. Bathe with cold water. Warm or hot water will open the "pores" of your hair and will let the color seep out of it. Cold, on the other hand, is your ally! It won't betray you :) It will help your hair color stay longer! Yehey!!! Yun nga lang, tiis ganda talaga. Ayaw mo nun? Longer na ang stay ng hair color mo, gising na gising ka pa! What a great way to start the day, right? :)
I just want to say thank you to the two hair experts who shared to me these tips. Kung hindi dahil sa kanila, hindi ko ito malalamang lahat.
